Marketing Manager for Knowledge & News Network (KNN)

The post of Marketing Manager will be primarily looking after all external interfaces, reaching out, brand building and coordination of marketing in alignment with the overall business strategy for the MSME K-Bridge Program of the Federation of Indian Small and Medium Enterprises (FISME).


The designation for this role would be “Marketing Manager” and would be reporting to the Program Director, FISME.

Primary Skills and Qualifications:

Any graduate/post graduate with consistent good academic track record. An MBA would be an advantage but not mandatory. In addition, PMP certification is desirable.

The Marketing Manager (MM) would ideally have a minimum of 10 years’ experience of which at least 3 years must be in charge of building the marketing function for large programs or startups / young companies, and at least 5 years in client-facing role.

The MM should be well-experienced in both direct selling and in building sales channels, concept selling, defining strong niches and building competitive advantages, creating and launching promotion campaigns, defining price points, and building systems for managing the marketing activity as a structured function.

He or she should have performed all activities associated with sales and marketing and should be facile in dealing with business heads, CxOs, and strong in persuasive skills.

He or she should have led promotion and brand building campaigns and conducted focus group discussions, roadshows and undertaken other initiatives that spread awareness and elicit participation as part of concept-selling.


The remuneration would be as per market standards. Remuneration would not be a constraint for recruiting the right resource for this job.

Job Description:

The MM is expected to spearhead the marketing function associated with building a knowledge network connecting micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), media and news agencies, and government departments, institutions, experts and individuals who have an interest in providing, consuming and sharing knowledge associated with MSMEs. He or she would be responsible for the execution and compliance of the following activities:

  1. Reach out to input providers, namely, institutions, experts, stingers, and other agencies who can provide relevant knowledge about and to MSMEs, get them to be part of building the knowledge network, devise attractive incentive plans and create a strong credibility about the platform provided by this program.
  2. Reach out to potential consumers of this knowledge, namely, media houses, news agencies, government agencies, MSMEs themselves and any other agencies, and get them to excited about the authenticated and structured knowledge of this network, determine a very attractive pricing proposition.
  3. Prepare, launch, coordinate and manage an integrated promotion campaign with brand building that dovetails into the business strategy for the program.
  4. Build, manage, and own the business plan for this program.
  5. Engage with MSMEs, input providers and customers to ensure that the needs of the different stakeholders are constantly assessed and the knowledge network is adapted to deliver on those needs.
  6. Build and manage a team for constantly reaching out to customers and providers, and a support team for managing the overall operations.
  7. Encourage and advocate the use of systems to track sales, targets, campaigns, channel efficiencies, provider incentives, and customer receivables.
  8. Provide periodical reports to the Program / Operations Steering Committee and provide weekly status reports, list of strategic wins and key areas for strengthening the marketing function that need the attention of the Steering Committee.
  9. Periodically assess the risks inherent or manifest in the business and proactively seek to mitigate them and devise appropriate risk responses, creation of new niches and changes to positioning.
  10. Ensure all plans are up to date and ensure high compliance to best practices laid out for day to day sales and marketing.
  11. Create quarterly plans with capital and operating expenses associated with marketing, targets, revenue forecast, and approach for growing the business, and submit to the Program Steering Committee for approvals and status updates.
  12. Manage all changes to the business plan according to change management guidelines and escalate any issue or plausible risks to the Program Steering Committee.
  13. Be the primary interface between the customers, providers and MSME associations.
