Workshop on “Promotion of Regional Value Chain of Textiles within SAARC Countries”

 

Venue: Conference Room, SME Foundation Date: May 11, 2015 An agreement has been signed between Small and Medium Enterprise Foundation (SMEF) and Federation of Indian Micro and Small & Medium Enterprise (FISME) on development of regional value chain (Textiles & Garments) within the SAARC countries under SAARC Trade Promotion Network (SAARC TPN). One of the main objectives of the study is to develop regional value chain (Textiles & Garments), especially the RMG raw materials export and development of RMG value chain within the SAARC countries.

 

A workshop on “Promotion of Regional Value Chain of Textiles within SAARC Countries” was held on May 11, 2015 at the Conference Room of SME Foundation. The workshop was presided by Mr. Dr. Engr. Syed Md. Ihsanul Karim, Managing Director, SME Foundation. Presentation was presented by expert guest Mr. Kuldeep Sharma, Consultant, CBI and Mr. Sampath Kasirajan, Textile Consultant, FISME and Managing Director, Hydra Consulting Services Pvt. Ltd.. Mr. Md. Mujibur Rahman, General Manager, SME Foundation; Mr. S M Shaheen Anwar, General Manager, SME Foundation; Mr. Md. Mamunur Rahman, Deputy General Manager, SME Foundation and other respected guests related to the textiles sector were present in the workshop.

 

Presenters focused on the steps and process of promotion of regional value chain of Textiles within SAARC countries. They mainly highlight on the pilot project study of importing yarn from India and Pakistan to Bangladesh and Nepal. Mr. Sampath Kasirajan broadly described how the SME entrepreneurs can enhance competence, compatibility, competitiveness, continuity and compliance. The presentation was followed by a Question and Answer session. Finally, the closing speech was presented by Mr. Dr. Engr. Syed Md. Ihsanul Karim, Managing Director, SME Foundation.
