FISME-HP multi-city ‘SMB connect’ programmes on GST in Ahmedabad, Surat, Faridabad, Vadodara, Vishakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Mumbai

To create awareness among MSMEs on Goods and Services Tax (GST) and help them in GST compliance, a series of programmes- ‘SMB Connect 2017,’ were conducted across the country by FISME in association with Hewlett Packard India (HP).

HP India along with KPMG has launched "GST Solution", a secure and affordable invoicing platform, for helping millions of traders and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) migrate smoothly to the GST regime. "GST Solution" can help users file all their transactions as per the new tax norms in a convenient manner and also reduce the invoice reconciliation requirements of large companies.
In South, these programmes were conducted in Vijaywada along with AP Chamber of Commerce and Industry Federation on 26th June 2017 and in Vishakhapatnam with Vishakhapatnam Auto Manufacturer’s Association on 28th June 2017. Main speakers were from Hewlett Packard (HP) & KPMG.

Another programme in Vishakhaptnam , in association with Visakha  Autonagar Small Scale Industries Welfare Association (VASSIWA) was held at VASSIWA hall on 7th July 2017. The programme was designed with the joint package of HP hardware and KPMG Accounting and Taxation software to create awareness on GST for SMEs to acquaint them on day to day accounting and taxation updates. The welcome address was delivered by Mr. Anne Krishna Balaji, President VASSIWA. Mr.S. K. Shafalan, Deputy Commissioner, Central Excise and Customs, Vizag Central, who was the chief guest of the programme unveiled. “A brief guide to GST for MSMEs”. While delivering the key note address, he listed out the key provisions of the GST and called upon the SMEs to make use of these facilitating provisions.

Further, he also promised to establish a help desk to assist entrepreneurs for better implementation of GST in Visakhapatnam. Mr. Ramalingeswara Raju, General Manager, District Industries Centre, Visakhapatnam, Mr. Manne Sreeenivas Rao, Deputy Secretary, FISME, Hyderabad also gave their messages.

SIDBI-FISME are already providing free online support through portal and there is a Toll-free helpline for MSMEs 1800-11-3585. SIDBI has also published a free GST guide for MSMEs which could be freely downloaded from the portal

In Bombay, the programme was held in association with Bombay Industries Association (BIA) on 28th June 2017.

In Ahmedabad, Gujarat, the programme was held in association with Gujarat Electronics & Software Industries Association (GESIA) on 21ST July 2017. Mr Anupam Bhatnagar Secretary General, GESIA welcomed the gathering followed by introduction of the theme by Mr. Mukesh Kalra, Joint Secretary, International Trade, FISME. A presentation was given by Mr. Siddhart Tiwari from KPMG and Mr. Chetan Kela from HP, where in the product and offer details were shared.

In Surat, the programme was held in association with South Gujarat Information Technologists Association (SITA) on 26th July 2017. The programme was initiated by Mr Amit Desai, President SITA, followed by presentations by Mr Krishan Gupta and Dhrumil Upadhaya from KPMG & HP team.

In Vadodara, the programme was held in association with Baroda IT Association, Federation of Information Technology Association of Gujarat (FITAG), Gujarat Electronics & Software Industries Association (GESIA). The event took place on 29TH July 2017 where the gathering was addressed by the team from HP & KPMG, who gave valuable insights on the product inputs and benefits to the potential users.

In Delhi NCR, Faridabad was the venue for the programme where it was held in partnership with DLF Industries Association on 28th July 2017. The welcome address was given by Mr JP Malothra, President DLF industries Association. A detailed presentation was done by Mr.Ankur Sharma and Mr Kaul on the HP KPMG product line.

Each of these programmes were well attended by 100 above SMEs, representatives of industry associations, officials from central excise and industries departments. A number of members of MSME associations and trade bodies like VCCI, GESIA (Gujarat Electronics and Software Industries Association), BITA, SITA (South Gujarat Information Technologists Association), FITAG (Federation of Information Technology Associations of Gujarat) participated in these programmes.
