FISME Promotes Geographical Indications & Intellectual Property Awareness through Multiple Initiatives
In March 2025, the Federation of Indian Micro and Small & Medium Enterprises (FISME), with the support of the Ministry of MSME, organized a series of initiatives to promote Geographical Indications (GI) and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) among MSMEs.
GI Mahotsav in Bangalore (21st–23rd March, 2025):
FISME hosted the GI Mahotsav in Bangalore to celebrate and promote the cultural and economic significance of GI-tagged products. The exhibition featured 52 stalls showcasing unique items such as Sangli Raisins, Kashmir Saffron, Bikaneri Bhujia, Pratapgarh Amla Products, Rasipuram Cow Ghee, Udupi and Maheshwar Handloom Sarees, Itkal Sarees, traditional paintings, perfumes, and handicrafts. The event attracted over 5,000 visitors, providing a valuable platform for artisans and producers to engage with consumers and stakeholders.
IP Awareness Programmes in Meerut (22nd March, 2025) and Badli (24th March, 2025):
FISME organized IPR awareness programmes in Manesar, Meerut, and Badli, in collaboration with local industrial associations including the Meerut Industrial Development Forum (MiDFo), Meerut Citizens Forum (MCF), and Badli Industrial Estate Association (BIEA). These sessions aimed to educate MSMEs on the importance of protecting intellectual assets and informed them about the support available through FISME’s Intellectual Property Facilitation Centre (FISME-IPFC) for IP filing and reimbursement.
National IP Yatra Programme in Gurgaon (27th–28th March, 2025):
In partnership with Manesar Industries Welfare Association (MIWA) and Gurgaon Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), FISME conducted a two-day National IP Yatra Programme in Gurgaon. The event included expert-led sessions on patents, trademarks, copyrights, and GIs, emphasizing the commercial value of registered IPs. The programme concluded with a roundtable discussion among company directors and MSME stakeholders on leveraging IPRs for business growth.
Through these events, FISME reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing IP awareness and promoting GI products for the empowerment of India’s MSME sector.
